About The Position

This position is responsible for guarding hatchery and related facilities against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry; monitors hatchery equipment/room temperatures to insure that product environment is properly maintained. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Must have at least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months. If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six month gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and may be required to push or pull up to 1,500 pounds at times.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor); sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.
  • Ear plugs will be used as required.
  • NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors building and surrounding grounds for unauthorized entry, vandalism, safety hazards.
  • Records temperature and humidity readings; Dispenses formaldehyde per schedule.
  • Fumigates specified areas of the facility as required.
  • Assists with egg sets as needed.
  • Sorts through prepared chick orders prior to pickup and removes dead or injured birds.
  • Assisting with pull crew duties, janitorial and laundry duties.
