About The Position

This is an operator position responsible for safely and efficiently operating hatchery equipment while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures, which include following all Animal Welfare guidelines. The role requires cross-training on all hatchery production positions and learning to operate specific machinery like a Robotic Arm, Box Washer, Stacker, and Restacker, including proper start-up and shut-down procedures. The position also involves cleaning machinery, lifting and moving various weights, and handling eggs and chicks.

Requirements

  • Schedule will be primarily Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday--start time from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Times may vary.).
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, holidays, weekends, different shifts/schedules as needed.
  • Basic math/counting skills to keep up with flocks and ensure the proper number of stacks on pallets for houses.
  • Willing and able to read computer screens to operate machinery.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and willing to work most holidays.
  • Willing to rotate jobs.
  • Willing to stand/walk on concrete floors 4 to 5 days per week, 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Willing to work 6 days per week if needed.
  • Willing to climb ladders/stairs.
  • Willing to work in extreme hot/cold environments.
  • Willing and able to tolerate chick down and the smell of rotten eggs.
  • Willing to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Willing to follow all Hatchery Safety rules/regulations.
  • Willing to follow all Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Willing to wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Six (6) months of Machine Operator experience in work history or on resume.
  • Six (6) months of continuous work history with one (1) employer within the past twenty-four (24) months in work history or on resume.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate hatchery equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Follow all Animal Welfare guidelines.
  • Cross-train on ALL hatchery production positions.
  • Learn to operate a Robotic Arm, Box Washer, Stacker, and Restacker, including proper start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Properly clean machinery.
  • Lift boxes weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Pull pallets (dollies) of stacked boxes weighing up to approximately 500 lbs.
  • Load/remove baskets and trays weighing 10 lbs. to 15 lbs. from machines.
  • Bend and lift a minimum of 30 lbs. from 6” high to 5’6” high repetitively.
  • Push/pull buggies of eggs weighing up to 500 lbs.
  • Cull nonviable chicks from viable chicks.
  • Rotate jobs.
  • Stand/walk on concrete floors 4 to 5 days per week, 8 to 10 hours per day.
