About The Position

The purpose of this position is to clean and disinfect the interior and exterior of hatchers, eliminating all chick debris and bacteria. This role involves maintaining equipment, meeting production requirements, and participating as a team member to ensure best practices. The Hatcher Washer is expected to be familiar with Simmons' operating systems and to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide activities but not limit creativity or the scope of work.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in temperature extremes, on feet for entire shift.
• Must be able to push/pull 1000 pound wheeled buggies, full and empty of poultry, up to 50 feet.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds of equipment or product anywhere from the floor to above shoulder height at various times throughout the shift.
• Must be able to climb 10 steps on a ladder and work at an elevated level of 10 feet at various times throughout the shift.
• Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
• Must be able to demonstrate understanding of Hazardous Communications and the proper methods of use of chemicals.
• Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
• Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Cleans hatchers by scraping, scrubbing, and shoveling out chick down, spraying with a pressure hose, applying acid at times, and disinfecting.
• Cleans hatcher hallway daily.
• Climbs on top of hatchers to ensure they are clean of all chick debris.
• Keeps all equipment in a clean and usable condition.
• Maintains production requirements by cleaning out 35-40 hatchers per shift.
• Unloads buggies from hatchers to clean hatchers and re-loads clean buggies when completed.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
