Harness Integration Technician

Figure•San Jose, CA
•$30 - $50•Onsite

About The Position

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous, general-purpose humanoid robots for commercial tasks and the home. Headquartered in San Jose, California, the company requires five days per week of in-office collaboration. Figure is seeking a Wire Harness Technician to design and build wire harnesses and custom cables for test setups supporting rapid development, validation, and integration. The role operates in a fast-paced prototyping and low-volume environment, producing both production-quality harnesses and non-standard, on-demand cable solutions for engineering and testing teams. The technician builds from drawings, bills of materials, and work orders while meeting IPC/WHMA standards and tight delivery timelines. The US hourly pay range for this full-time position is $30–$50. Compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional components or benefits depending on the role; further information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience building wire harnesses and cable assemblies in manufacturing or prototyping environments.
  • Ability to independently design and execute custom cable builds for testing and prototyping.
  • Ability to read prints and schematics and follow work instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in crimping and soldering, including selective tinning, shields and drain wires, coax, and twisted pair.
  • Hands-on experience with strippers, gauges, pull testers, manual or pneumatic crimpers (Daniels or similar), soldering stations, and heat guns.
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 2/3) and familiarity with J-STD-001.
  • Strong focus on quality and schedules, with high first-pass yield and low rework in fast-iteration environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Current IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001 certifications.
  • Experience supporting test labs, EVT/DVT builds, and rapid iteration cycles.
  • Experience with cable testers such as Cirris and basic fixture integration.
  • Exposure to ECOs/NPI, startup environments, and creating or maintaining SOPs.
  • Basic comfort using CAD viewers to review drawings and ERP systems for traceability.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Build build-to-print and custom wire harnesses, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, braiding or sleeving, heat-shrinking, basic potting, and final terminations.
  • Create custom cables and harnesses on demand for test setups, debugging, EVT/DVT activities, and rapid hardware iteration, including when requirements are evolving or incomplete.
  • Work closely with engineering and test teams to turn testing needs into practical cable and harness solutions.
  • Read and follow drawings, schematics, BOMs, work orders, and ECOs; record traceability in ERP systems or routers.
  • Crimp and verify terminals and contacts using specified tooling, and document pull tests when required.
  • Print and apply labels and heat-shrink markers according to prints.
  • Perform continuity, insulation/hipot, and other electrical tests, and conduct basic troubleshooting using DMMs, cable testers, and fixtures.
  • Perform rework to specification, such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, and support NCMR/MRB containment.
  • Maintain 5S, ESD, and safety standards.
  • Suggest process, tooling, and DFM improvements, particularly those that improve testability and iteration speed.
