About The Position

Oak Park and River Forest High School (OPRF) is seeking a part-time Harmony Ensemble Accompanist to work alongside the current director. Harmony Ensemble is a choir that has been a significant part of the school and community for 40 years, focusing on traditional and contemporary songs. This role requires the ability to teach and play by ear, as students are not required to read music. The ideal candidate will be a vocal coach and accompanist who can inspire and guide students.

Requirements

Experience as a vocal coach and accompanist (organ and keyboard).
Experience leading or teaching students by ear.
Ability to recruit and maintain diverse membership.
Ability to establish leadership within the group.
Ability to meet sponsor expectations as stated in Student Activities Sponsor Handbook.
Organized and have a positive attitude.
Collaborative.

Responsibilities

Oversee students at all rehearsals, performances, and field trips.
Act as a vocal coach for the choir during rehearsals.
Attend all concerts and required school events to provide accompaniment.
Collaborate with the director.
Attend Sponsor Meetings and meet expectations set by the Student Activities Director.
