About The Position

The Accompanist Musician will provide music for all worship services, including Sunday AM services, Sunday PM services, and revivals. This role involves accompanying all choirs and supporting church singing units. The Accompanist Musician will also assist in introducing, teaching, rehearsing, and maintaining a well-prepared repertoire of music for public presentation. They will meet with the Pastor and/or Worship Committee to assist in the selection of suitable music and devise appropriate musical programs for all occasions. Additionally, the Accompanist Musician will attend and participate in regular scheduled rehearsals, assume responsibility in the absence of the Minister of Music to call special rehearsals when necessary, and provide accompaniment for special events including Church Anniversaries, Cantatas (at least once a year), retreats, and funerals. Travel may be required for overnight trips, with expenses paid. The Accompanist Musician will assist the Minister of Music in executing their duties and planning a yearly training event for the music ministry. Professionalism is expected, including punctuality (15-30 minutes prior to services/rehearsals), maintaining instruments and work areas, reporting equipment issues, continuous personal and professional growth through workshops/seminars, and dressing in appropriate attire.

Requirements

Minimally 3 years of music experience with various genres of music.
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
Must be fundamentally Christian in belief.
Must demonstrate strict confidentiality and possess the ability to resolve conflicts gracefully.
Must maintain a positive attitude and disposition, acting as a collaborative team player.
Must possess the ability to read music as well as play by ear.
Must possess the ability to play both the piano, keyboard, and the organ.
Proven ability to relate to and work effectively with a wide variety of people, from young children to adults.
Must be an excellent steward of time, highly self-motivated, punctual, accountable, and responsible.
Possess strong leadership skills and capabilities to direct singing units and run rehearsals effectively.
Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills to adapt gracefully to unexpected changes during live worship services and constructively resolve rehearsal or scheduling challenges.
A minimum of twenty-four-hour notice is expected for any absences, whenever possible.

Responsibilities

Provide music for all worship services, including Sunday AM services, Sunday PM services, and revivals.
Accompany all choirs and support church singing units.
Assist in introducing, teaching, rehearsing, and maintaining a well-prepared repertoire of music for public presentation.
Meet with the Pastor and/or Worship Committee to assist in the selection of suitable music and devise appropriate musical programs for all occasions.
Attend and participate in regular scheduled rehearsals with appropriate church officers.
Assume the responsibility in the absence of the Minister of Music to call special rehearsals when necessary.
Provide accompaniment for special events including Church Anniversaries, Cantatas (at least once a year), retreats, and funerals.
Accompany the church family on overnight trips when required (travel and lodging will be paid as identified for the group).
Assist the Minister of Music in the execution of their respective duties when necessary.
Assist in planning and facilitating a yearly training event for all persons in the church’s music ministry.
Arrive to work on time, consistently 15 to 30 minutes prior to the start time of services and rehearsals.
Maintain your instrument and work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Promptly report any damage or malfunction of equipment to the Minister of Music for repair or replacement.
Attend musical workshops, seminars, retreats, or training sessions for the purpose of continuous personal and professional growth.
Dress in appropriate attire when at work, understanding that first impressions are lasting impressions.
