About The Position

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking a self-directed Hardware Test Engineer to help ensure that X-ES products conform to required specifications through product testing and design verification. They will create procedures, perform testing, analyze results, and identify design defects. The Design Verification Test team is also responsible for verifying that designs function as intended and will test the performance limits of embedded systems designed to operate in rugged environments – including projects for industrial, commercial, military, and aerospace customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field. Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • X-ES is open to hiring December 2026 graduates.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with a high level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of circuit theory and analysis.
  • Familiarity with various types of testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, analyzers, multimeters).
  • Familiarity with designing for test.
  • Knowledge of electronic assemblies and computer functionality.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Prior experience with embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Bash scripting, Python, or similar programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Determine conditions and sequence under which tests are conducted.
  • Develop test plans and procedures.
  • Perform verifications as described by test plans and procedures to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret test data.
  • Prepare technical reports for production, sales, and/or customer consumption.
  • Perform initial debug of failed test items and collaborate with technical personnel to resolve issues or characterize defects.
  • Maintain test equipment and software test libraries.
  • Regularly communicate with project teams to update them on testing progress, discuss hurdles and defects, and proactively allocate resources.
