About The Position

Wing is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer Intern to join its Electrical Engineering team in Palo Alto, California. This is part of a 12-week paid summer internship program. The hybrid, in-person program has start dates in May or June. Candidates must currently be enrolled in a degree program and intend to return to it after the internship. The intern will optimize cutting-edge avionics for compatibility with wireless systems. The work includes hands-on benchtop testing and analysis of flight logs to identify and debug desense issues, followed by designing, implementing, and verifying hardware solutions. The role calls for broad understanding of electromagnetics, wireless systems, electrical circuit design, prototyping, and analysis, along with adaptability and motivation to solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
  • Intend to return to the degree program after the summer internship.
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical schematics, measuring voltage waveforms, soldering, rework, and hands-on circuit troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of electrical test equipment, including spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Understanding of electromagnetics, including capacitance, inductance, coupling, and waves.
  • Experience with at least one programming language, such as Python or MATLAB, for analysis and data visualization.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment; motivated, adaptive, and capable of solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize avionics for compatibility with wireless systems.
  • Use benchtop testing and flight-log analysis to identify and debug desense issues.
  • Design, implement, and verify hardware solutions for identified desense problems.
  • Help develop and test avionics, including wireless connectivity, high-speed digital processors, and camera sensors.
  • Gain experience with PCB component qualification, bring-up, and testing.
  • Use wireless test equipment, including spectrum analyzers and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Help ensure avionics use suitable components and are reliable and manufacturable.
  • Work cross-functionally beyond the electrical engineering team.

Benefits

  • Paid 12-week summer internship
