As a Hardware Technician on Aurora's Manufacturing Team, you will play a crucial role in bringing self-driving technology to life. Your primary responsibilities will center around the hands-on assembly of cutting-edge self-driving vehicles and their intricate sub-assemblies. This demanding yet rewarding position requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision. A fundamental aspect of your work will involve operating strictly within the guidelines of the Aurora Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS). Adherence to these established procedures is paramount to ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in all manufactured components and vehicles. You will be expected to consistently uphold rigorous safety standards, contributing to a secure and productive work environment for yourself and your colleagues. Furthermore, you will be tasked with meeting internal deadlines, often working independently with minimal oversight, demonstrating your ability to manage your time effectively and deliver results efficiently. In addition to your core assembly duties, you will actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of our manufacturing processes. This includes assisting in the creation and refinement of detailed build documentation, which is essential for consistent and repeatable manufacturing. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with a background in technical trade school or other educational equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 or standardized process environments is preferred.
  • Demonstrate the capacity, resources, and motivation to build self-driving trucks with top-level integrations.
  • Able to assemble wiring harnesses, read wiring schematics and layouts.
  • Experience with various software tools and standard documentation practices.
  • Basic proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems is necessary.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Possess a customer-focused mindset regarding delivering quality.
  • Willing to reason, isolate, and resolve issues.
  • Handle, feel, and control objects, as well as grasp, move, and assemble small items.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, carry materials, bend at the waist, reach, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs that are 20 to 25 feet high.
  • Maximum unassisted lift of 50 pounds and a typical lift of 20 pounds or less.
  • Able to pull or push wheeled equipment to build locations.
  • Exposure to moving parts and tools such as impact tools, drills, and cutting equipment is expected.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) daily is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC training and certification, or equivalent experience
  • IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/7721
  • GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing certification)
  • Production workshop experience
