About The Position

We are currently hiring a Technician 5 to support our global software client onsite in Vancouver, WA. This role is technical in nature and the ideal candidate would benefit from experience in an ever-evolving R&D team culture. This is a long-term position, offering day shift normal working hours, with a Monday through Friday work week. You also must reside locally to the client-site in Vancouver, Washington, and must already be eligible for employment in the US without visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required with the ability to effectively communicate with varied levels of employees.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Be physically able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Be physically able to sit or stand for extended periods, climb step stools, bend, kneel and stoop frequently.
  • Be willing to perform repetitive, sometimes sedentary work.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to follow detailed directions.
  • At minimum, intermediate user knowledge and experience with PC's including Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, and Access with comfortability navigating and viewing web pages.
  • 1-3 years of electronics repair experience and use of soldering tools required.
  • Minimum educational level expectation is a high school diploma or has passed GED (General Educational Development) examinations with some college level education.

Nice To Haves

  • Some CAD skills preferred.
  • Some Basic coding skills preferred.
  • 2-year STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) or Technical/college diploma, with continued education for a BS is highly desirable. On-the-job work experience and job skills training in lieu of a 2-year college diploma is acceptable.
  • Minimum 6+ years’ work experience at a technician 2 level in a product development test environment preferred. 6+years' work experience requirement can be waived/reduced depending on education qualifications, skillset, industry standard certifications or other related industry work experience

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment/systems requiring electro-mechanical experience and safety certifications.
  • Familiar with all the activities of Techs 1-4. May train and/or lead new techs.
  • Using soldering tools, hand tools, power tools, (ie. screw drivers, drills, hand crimpers) to fix/repair electronic components and hardware of printers.
  • Reads/interprets mechanical drawings, schematics, printouts, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Performs testing tasks requiring strong analytical skills, interpretation of test cases and scripts, planning & scheduling of technical activities.
  • Performs ad hoc/exploratory testing and defect characterization, writes clear and concise defect reports, and performs or directs test case maintenance.
  • Ensures that all test activities are properly executed and reported & may suggest test directions.
  • Performs tests to determine the functionality of mechanical or computer equipment.
  • Ensure instruments are calibrated and verified on a regular basis.
  • Participates with engineers in the testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment and products.
  • Creates new test programs/procedures as needed for new technologies.
  • Applies knowledge and technical experience to moderately complex projects that require independent judgment to resolve problems.
  • Performs tests on printers to determine the functionality of mechanical equipment.
  • Has a strong understanding of all major aspects of computer HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms.
  • Works on complex assignments with minimal supervision, requiring significant judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or recommend solutions.
  • Run test scripts via PC according to specific guidelines and procedures.
  • Observe printer behavior and compare test results with predetermined parameters.
  • Collect and accurately report test data using predetermined spreadsheets and applicable databases.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, metrics, and follows procedures.
  • Must be able to work in different enclosed climate environments including hot/humid, cold/wet, etc. Examples include 59F/10% RH and 104F/80% RH. (Operators may spend up to 10 minutes in the hot/humid environment).
  • Remove and install printer consumables such as toner cartridges and paper.
  • Flexibility to support other labs and projects, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
