Requirements

• Prior cash handling experience is required.
• Cashier or retail experience is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Positive attitude combined with a strong desire to serve others.
• Strong numerical skills and accuracy handling cash, credit, and other forms of payment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a friendly, patient, and customer focused attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
• Accuracy in handling transactions and reconciling a cash drawer.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with point of sale systems.
• Consistent, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential to this role, since scheduled coverage at the register directly affects customer service and team workload.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude, assist them in locating products, and answer any inquiries they may have about our store's offerings. Ensure customers receive needed assistance locating, purchasing, and delivering items to their vehicles.
• Using a computerized sales system, efficiently process cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment accurately and securely. Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout your shift and perform end of day reconciliation.
• Operate the cash register and scanning system effectively, ensuring timely and accurate checkout of products.
• Develop a basic understanding of the store's inventory to assist customers in finding the right products and upselling relevant items at the checkout counter.
• Handle returns and exchanges according to store policy, ensuring customer satisfaction while adhering to guidelines.
• Search store and vendor inventory visually and with computer systems to locate products as needed. Conduct price checks when necessary to resolve discrepancies and ensure pricing accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including the counter, registers, and surrounding space. Assist with store cleanliness as available. Occasionally support sales associates with inventory management or store organization.
• Collaborate with other employees, such as sales associates and managers, to address customer concerns and enhance overall store performance.
• Comply with all store policies, including security measures, dress code, and safety regulations, to ensure a secure and pleasant shopping environment.
