About The Position

BAE Systems is experiencing significant growth due to new program awards and is seeking an experienced hardware engineer for a lead role. This position offers a unique player-coach model, balancing team management responsibilities with individual technical contributions. The role involves leading engineers through the development and production transition process for next-generation electronic systems products and solutions, specifically focusing on Electronic Warfare systems. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring consistent, in-person collaboration.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering
  • 8 years of work experience
  • Experience with hardware engineering development of DoD systems
  • Technical team leadership
  • Strong skill in people management and team collaboration within systems engineering and across disciplines
  • Able to demonstrate timely decision making
  • Able to lead a team to adapt to changes effectively

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of hardware engineers, reporting directly to the director of Systems Engineering.
  • Shape the future of hardware engineering to optimize performance.
  • Recruit, retain, train, recognize, and develop hardware engineers.
  • Assign team members to programs, IRADs, and proposals.
  • Develop individual and group goals and objectives.
  • Communicate company, business area, and discipline information.
  • Mentor careers through development of career and training plans.
  • Ensure team members adhere to BAE Systems' cultural principles, policies, and vision.
  • Ensure the Hardware Development Process is implemented successfully.
  • Collaborate with other Discipline Section Leads to determine program staffing needs.
  • Contribute technically to programs throughout the entire product lifecycle, including product capture and proposals, product design, leading design reviews, hardware verification or integration, trade studies, and product build support.
  • Engage in developing EW solutions, utilizing existing skills and developing new ones.
