About The Position

The ACE Hardware Sales Associate processes and stocks products, builds and fills displays, and receives customer or Associate payments for goods and services in a quick and friendly manner while providing genuine customer care. The role supports store sales by acknowledging customers, meeting their project needs, and resolving concerns promptly. It also includes register and service transactions, answering phone calls, completing assigned activities, and helping maintain and clean the store.

The position requires some hardware knowledge, basic math skills, and the ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The associate must be able to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate information in response to customer or Associate questions. There are no required certifications, licenses, or registrations and no supervisory responsibilities.

The job involves frequent standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, communicating, and lifting. Recommended equipment includes slip-resistant closed-toe and closed-heel shoes, safety cutter knives, an apron, and a uniform per store policy. Work may occasionally involve outdoor weather, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical-shock risk, and varying noise levels.

Requirements

• Some hardware knowledge.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.

• Apply basic math concepts, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach, communicate, and lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally sit, lift overhead, crawl, smell, and lift or move up to 100 pounds.
• Meet vision needs including close-distance vision, adjusting focus, and distinguishing colors.

Responsibilities

• Drive store sales by acknowledging customers, meeting their project needs, and resolving concerns quickly.
• Process and stock deliveries and back stock.
• Build and fill displays.
• Scan products and process customer orders accurately, efficiently, and promptly.
• Handle all forms of tender and coupons properly.
• Process and be accountable for other services handled at the register.
• Answer incoming phone calls using proper phone etiquette.
• Perform assigned fixed activities.
• Assist with store maintenance and cleaning.
• Follow store and department policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
