We are seeking a 2nd shift Hardware Operator. The Hardware Operator is responsible for setting up and operating hardware insertion equipment to install hardware components into sheet metal parts and assemblies according to blueprints and customer specifications. This role works with a variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminum, and galvanized metal while ensuring accurate hardware placement, quality inspections, and proper machine setup. The position requires attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience setting up and operating Haeger machine preferred
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission.
  • Bend and lift, loading and unloading workpieces into the machine, and move from one workstation to another, alternately sitting and standing.
  • Lift objects up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
  • Perform repetitive work for more than 8 hours per day and on weekends.
  • Read the blueprint, distinguish colors, and Wear the required personal protective equipment. (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Using a print verifies that specified hardware is installed in the correct location.
  • Positions align, bolts specified die over the anvil and ram of the machine, and positions fixtures in the machine bed.
  • Prepares a pick list for required hardware to subtract from inventory.
  • Turns knobs and sets screws to adjust depth and pressure limit of ram stroke.
  • Deliver the first piece to inspection for verification of dimensions and hardware location.
  • Align holes of workpieces with the anvil of the machine.
  • Positions pems or hardware with holes in workpieces over an anvil or against fixtures.
  • Depresses pedal to lower ram that inserts the pem or hardware into the workpieces.
  • Fills hopper with pems or hardware when operating semiautomatic machines.
