The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Propulsion Plant Team Trainer (PPTT) Hardware Engineering (PHE) is a multi-site unit responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the PPTT to support the Next Generation Training Program (NGTP). Our focus is centered on trainer Integration to ensure that all aspects of the PPTT come together in a first-of-a-kind product that transforms Navy training for the next four decades. We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated engineer to help shape the next generation of propulsion plant simulation technology. In this role, you will contribute directly to trainer integration efforts throughout the hardware project life cycle including design, fabrication, installation, and test. This is a perfect time to join the team early in the design phase with plenty of opportunities to work closely with suppliers to ensure their designs meet technical requirements and project objectives achieved.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with simulation technology
  • Strong leadership and ability to work collaboratively
  • Prior experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Prior experience evaluating designs against approved technical requirements
  • Experience providing technical oversight to suppliers within contractual bounds
  • Experience teaming with BPMI
  • Ability to rapidly process information, exhibit effective decision making, and improve project success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct independent work efforts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are being met
  • Support design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers
  • Review and disposition Supplier design submittments to validate designs based on technical requirements
  • Support on-site hardware inspections of production equipment at Supplier facilities
