Hardware Component Engineer

Philips•Plymouth, MN
•$101,000 - $160,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Hardware Component Engineer addresses complex product industrialization challenges, including component lifecycle management, using sound judgment and innovative problem-solving to develop effective solutions. The position combines technical engineering ownership with contract manufacturer (CM) performance, supply continuity, and proactive component lifecycle risk management. The engineer initiates design and process changes at supplier sites, guided by PDLM-managed projects, while ensuring standards and timelines are met. The role partners with CM, procurement, planning, and internal supply chain teams to improve on-time delivery, material availability, lead times, inventory performance, and production capacity, while identifying and mitigating supply constraints. It owns lifecycle management of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components, including BOM health, PCN/EOL monitoring, obsolescence risk, alternate components, last-time-buy decisions, and supplier continuity. The engineer coordinates design changes and qualifications as needed, and uses structured, data-driven problem-solving to address supplier issues, shortages, yield and capacity constraints, cost opportunities, and recurring production problems, driving corrective actions through the CM and internal cross-functional teams.
