About The Position

WinnCompanies is seeking a thorough and attentive Handyman to join the maintenance team at Polyclinic Apartments, a 151-unit residential property in New York, NY. The role supports the upkeep of clean, functional, and inviting properties by completing repairs and service requests, preparing vacant apartments for market, and maintaining the grounds and curb appeal. The position pays $33.04–$33.87 per hour, depending on experience, and is a union position with union benefits and compensation. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The Handyman must also be available for on-call activity during off-hours for urgent needs and emergencies, based on a predetermined schedule and need.

Requirements

At least 1 year of relevant experience.
General custodial skills demonstrated through experience in property maintenance or janitorial work.
General knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC.
Ability to adhere precisely to a strict routine maintenance schedule.
Ability to speak and understand basic English.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.

Vocational or technical training.
Certificates of Fitness: S12, S13, S14, or P99.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs involving appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and basic HVAC.
Complete assigned service requests and repairs in accordance with company operating procedures.
Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market-ready status according to company standards.
Maintain grounds and curb appeal through snow removal, landscaping, and trash management.
Be available for off-hours on-call activity and emergencies based on a predetermined schedule and need.
