About The Position
Mr. Handyman is hiring experienced handyman professionals to complete home and commercial repair and maintenance projects. Work ranges from small to medium projects lasting approximately two hours to two days. The role involves performing quality repairs, communicating with customers about recommended work, scope, and costs, and delivering a positive experience that encourages repeat business. The position operates with substantial independence and follows the company’s “Mr. Handyman Way” process. The franchise owner is the employer; franchise owners independently determine their wage and benefit programs.
Requirements
- Live within the area.
- Have at least 5 years of paid handyman experience.
- Own the tools needed for the work.
- Be insurable to drive the company vehicle.
- Complete a background and driving record check.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds independently.
- Be able to work safely at heights and overhead for extended periods.
- Be able to self-manage while often working alone.
- Communicate with customers, provide excellent customer service, ask for reviews, and collect payments.
- Be able to use technology and document jobs according to the Mr. Handyman Way.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in at least three of the following: carpentry; bathroom improvements; kitchen improvements; interior and exterior painting; minor and major drywall repairs; general plumbing and electrical where permitted by law; floor installation and refurbishing; familiarity with building codes.
Responsibilities
- Complete small to medium maintenance and repair projects for residential and commercial customers.
- Communicate recommendations to customers and manage expectations regarding the scope and cost of work.
- Deliver a strong customer experience and build long-term customer relationships by following the Mr. Handyman Way.
- Encourage customers to complete service satisfaction surveys.
- Identify additional ways to serve customers.
- Invoice appropriately, source needed materials, and collect payment.
- Document jobs while following the company process.
- Use required tools and technology, and wear appropriate PPE and booties to protect customers’ homes.
- Maintain a professional appearance and maintain the company-provided vehicle.
