About The Position

This position is responsible for using appropriate tools to sand furniture. The Hand Sander reads production tickets for furniture pieces, manually sands wood furniture and frames using various jigs and tools, and repairs minor wood defects. The position follows safety policies and procedures and works as part of a team to meet or exceed production goals.

The role is located at Hickory Chair in Hickory, North Carolina, and is full-time on the day shift. Work involves prolonged standing and repetitive tasks in noisy and dusty environments, with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. The role requires manual dexterity and lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools as directed.
• Ability to perform prolonged standing and repetitive tasks, including bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting.
• Ability to work in noisy and dusty environments.
• Ability to frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous sanding experience.
