About The Position

At Pressed Roots, we’re redefining the salon experience as the first silk blow-out bar specializing in textured hair. We combine expert textured-hair care, hair-health education, and luxury hospitality to create an experience that makes every client feel confident, beautiful, and cared for. As a Pressed Roots Stylist, you’ll do more than create beautiful silk blowouts—you’ll become a trusted textured-hair expert while building your career in a supportive, high-energy environment.

Requirements

• Active and valid D.C. cosmetology license required.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills to create a welcoming and luxury experience for clients.
• Strong styling and finishing techniques, with a focus on silk blowouts and textured hair care.
• Highly motivated, team-oriented, and proactive, with a strong work ethic and a “go-getter” attitude.
• Availability for a committed weekday PM shift and a weekend shift is required.

Nice To Haves

• DC Cosmetology Manager License: A current DC Cosmetology Manager License is a plus and preferred for this role. Stylists who hold an active DC Cosmetology Manager License will receive an additional $2 per hour starting base pay.
• Experience with the round brush technique is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert silk blowouts on all types of textured hair, ensuring flawless results and client satisfaction.
• Educate clients on the art of textured hair care, maintenance techniques, and recommended products to promote hair health.
• Sell add-on services, retail products, and VIP memberships by confidently recommending solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
• Provide a luxury client experience through professional and engaging interactions, enhancing their visit with top-tier service, including complimentary mimosas and beverages.
• Maintain overall studio cleanliness and organization to uphold Pressed Roots’ high standards of professionalism and hospitality.

Benefits

• Competitive Pay & Earning Potential – Stylists earn an average of $19.50–$ 35per hour. Compensation includes a $19.50/hour base, 15% commission on every client served, gratuity, additional commission opportunities, bonuses, and a paid referral program.
