About The Position

Provide quality gymnastics instruction for participants ranging from toddler/preschool age through intermediate/advanced levels. The days and hours of work will vary to meet program needs, including evening and weekend shifts. This is a part-time position, working less than 20 hours per week. The salary range is $15.16 - $18.51 per hour for Instructor I and $15.76 - $21.27 per hour for Instructor II, depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will remain open until filled.

Requirements

Instructor I: Previous gymnastics experience; extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
Instructor I: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of hire.
Instructor II: High School Graduate or GED required.
Instructor II: 1 year experience coaching/teaching gymnastics with extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
Instructor II: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire.
Proficient knowledge of gymnastics.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically.
Strong customer service skills.
Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy.
Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills.
Frequent light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks.
Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.

Nice To Haves

Instructor I: Experience as an assistant instructor preferred.
Instructor I: Course work in recreation, education or related field preferred.
Instructor II: Course work in recreation, education or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Properly instruct registered participants.
Develop, oversee and implement lesson plans.
Participate in required training.
Inspect classroom and program environment and equipment to ensure safety.
Handle emergencies according to established procedures.
Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class evaluations and class descriptions for brochures.
Provide make-up sessions as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
