About The Position

Provide quality gymnastics instruction for toddler/preschool age through intermediate/advanced level participants. The days of work and hours will vary to meet program needs, requiring evening and weekend shifts. This is a part-time position, less than 20 hours per week. The salary range for this position is: Instructor I $15.16- $18.51 per hour, and Instructor II $15.76- $21.27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will remain open until filled.

Requirements

  • Instructor I: Previous gymnastics experience; extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
  • Instructor I: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of hire.
  • Instructor II: High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Instructor II: 1 year experience coaching/teaching gymnastics with extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
  • Instructor II: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
  • Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire.
  • Proficient knowledge of gymnastics.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy.
  • Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Instructor I: Experience as an assistant instructor preferred.
  • Instructor I: Course work in recreation, education or related field preferred.
  • Instructor II: Course work in recreation, education or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Properly instruct registered participants.
  • Develop, oversee and implement lesson plans.
  • Participate in required training.
  • Inspect classroom and program environment and equipment to ensure safety.
  • Handle emergencies according to established procedures.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class evaluations and class descriptions for brochures.
  • Provide make-up sessions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
