About The Position

The YMCA is seeking a gymnastics coach to help children develop their skills, reach age-appropriate goals, and enjoy a positive YMCA gymnastics experience in progressive or competitive programs. The coach provides a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment while helping participants learn YMCA programs and develop gymnastics skills and character. The position is part-time and hourly, starting at $13 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have 3–5 years of experience in a gymnastics setting.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Have strong communication skills and a desire to meet people at their level of experience.
Enjoy working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents.

Nice To Haves

USAG Safety Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for members and participants in YMCA gymnastics programs.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before each scheduled class and prepare equipment so the class can begin on time.
Evaluate program skills and complete progress reports for each session.
Communicate with parents, complete incident reports, and take attendance.
Assist with instruction in program skills and character-development objectives and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards.
Supervise program participants and actively participate in all aspects of the program.
Wear attire that meets YMCA standards.
Manage participant behavior collaboratively with supervisors and parents.
Use approved positive-support techniques to develop and refine gymnasts’ skills.
Attend required staff meetings and training.
