About The Position

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a part-time, hourly Gymnastics Coach to help children develop their potential through age-appropriate goals and YMCA programming. The coach provides a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for participants to learn progressive or competitive gymnastics skills and character development. The role includes supervising participants, evaluating skills, communicating with parents, and contributing to a positive community environment. The YMCA offers training, opportunities to learn and grow, and support from the team.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
At least 3 years of experience in a gymnastics setting.
Some college or equivalent.
Strong communication skills and a desire to meet people at their level of experience.
Enjoy working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents.

Nice To Haves

USAG Safety Certification for Competitions is preferred.
Strong knowledge of gymnastics competitions, including experience at the state and/or national level.

Responsibilities

Provide a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for members and participants to learn YMCA programs and specific progressive or competitive programs.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before each scheduled class and prepare equipment so the class can begin on time.
Evaluate program skills; complete session progress reports, parent communications, incident reports, and attendance records.
Assist with instruction of program skills and character development objectives and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards.
Supervise program participants and actively participate in all aspects of the program.
Wear attire that meets YMCA standards.
Manage participant behavior collaboratively with supervisors and parents.
Use approved positive support techniques to develop and refine gymnasts’ skills.
Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
