About The Position

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a part-time, hourly Gymnastics Coach to help children develop gymnastics skills and meet age-appropriate goals. The coach supports participants in progressive or competitive programs by providing a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment and delivering instruction in accordance with YMCA standards. The role includes supervising participants, tracking progress and attendance, communicating with parents, and supporting character development. The YMCA offers team support and training, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to contribute to a nonprofit organization focused on strengthening the community.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
At least 3 years of experience in a gymnastics setting.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication skills and a desire to meet people at their level of experience.
Enjoy working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents.

Nice To Haves

USAG Safety Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for members and participants to learn YMCA programs and enjoy their gymnastics experience.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before each scheduled class and prepare equipment so the class can begin on time.
Evaluate program skills and complete session progress reports, parent communications, incident reports, and attendance records.
Assist with instruction in program skills and character development objectives and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards.
Supervise program participants and actively participate in all aspects of the program.
Wear attire appropriate to YMCA standards.
Manage participant behavior collaboratively with supervisors and parents.
Use approved positive support techniques to develop and refine gymnasts’ skills.
Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
