About The Position

Immaculate Conception School is seeking a part-time Gym Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves developing students' understanding of the relationship between good body function and exercise, motivating them to cultivate physical fitness and hygienic habits, and discovering their talents in physical achievement. The teacher will foster strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in various physical activities and sports, tailored to each student's ability.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field.
PA Teacher certification in Health and Physical Education.
Thorough understanding of the curricular elements of Physical Education, and a general knowledge of high school Physical Education curriculum.
Applicants should possess a love of Physical Education, teaching, and children as well as the desire to nurture and shape the lives of our students.
Appreciation of the developmental and age characteristics of the students in each grade.
Enthusiasm for the mission of the school and for working collaboratively with fellow faculty members.
Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (at least 1 year old.)
Attendance at a Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Responsibilities

Design and implement PE classes for Kindergarten to 8th Grade students that expose them to a variety of activities, games, and sports; emphasize activities that promote lifelong physical fitness and promote teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythm, and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing appropriate learning activities.
Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, game rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils.
Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.
Selects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
Establishes and maintains standards of students behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by Immaculate Conception School and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
