About The Position

This is a part-time position with an average of 20 hours per week. The schedule requires flexibility to work assigned shifts, Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The schedule may include varied hours, evenings, and holidays, with a minimum availability of every other weekend. Associates processing firearms must be over the age of 21. The role involves delivering a personalized customer experience, handling transactions, promoting the Scheels Visa card, processing firearm returns and exchanges, completing firearm background checks, assisting with Gun Room housekeeping, and ensuring compliance with all ATF federal laws and guidelines. Technology-based processes for firearm and/or suppressor transactions must be executed.

Requirements

  • Must be over the age of 21 to process firearms
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
  • Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
  • Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
  • Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
  • End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
  • Process returns and exchanges for firearm purchases
  • Complete firearm background checks
  • Assist with Gun Room housekeeping
  • Ensure all ATF federal laws and guidelines are followed
  • Ability to execute technology-based processes for firearm and/or suppressor transactions
  • All other duties as assigned
