About The Position

Menchey School of Music, part of Menchey Music Service, is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable guitar instructor for its Gambrills, Maryland studio. The instructor will provide private lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels in a welcoming, organized, and supportive studio environment. The role emphasizes personalized instruction, positive student relationships, musical growth, and participation in recitals and other performance opportunities. The schedule requires availability for either one weeknight from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM or one recurring four-hour block on Saturdays. The school provides marketing and enrollment systems, administrative support for scheduling and billing, private teaching studios, and on-site support from a Studio Coordinator. The salary is $34–$44 per hour, determined by qualifications and experience.

Requirements

A strong musical background demonstrated by at least two years of college-level music training, five years of teaching or professional performance experience, or an equivalent combination.
Ability to successfully complete an initial background check and recurring background checks every three years as a condition of employment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional and timely email communication.
Confidence and effectiveness in delivering one-on-one instruction.
Excellent organization and time-management skills.
Comfort using a digital scheduling system.
A warm, energetic, and professional presence.
Patience, flexibility, and the ability to connect with students of all ages and skill levels.
Consistency, dependability, and a student-focused approach.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree in music education, performance, or a related field is preferred; candidates currently working toward a degree are also encouraged to apply.
Experience working with learners of varied ages and skill levels is preferred.

Responsibilities
