About The Position

The Guitar Sessions Office Assistant is a temporary student employment position for the week of the Berklee Guitar Sessions. This position includes tasks such as assisting with amp setup and organization, working the front desk of the Guitar Office, assisting with clinics and concerts, helping organize nightly Jam Sessions, and assisting with the Welcome Event and final performances. The workdays are long, running from 9 AM to 10:15 PM on most days, with an earlier end time on Friday. Several students are needed to cover all shifts throughout the week.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer employment exception: Students can work without being enrolled in summer if pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. (Students in their first semester can work without an official GPA).
  • Federal Work Study students may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Amp Crew: Assisting the moving, setting up, replacing, and organization of the amps used for the Guitar Sessions week.
  • Guitar Office Auxiliary: Working the front desk of the Guitar Office; including answering the phone, assisting students and faculty as needed, organization of the Guitar Office, stocking printers, making coffee, organizing workspace/break area, delivering documents/keys to classrooms across the campus as needed.
  • Clinic/Concert Assistant: Working with the artist/faculty member at the venue of their clinic.
  • Jam Assistant: Working with the faculty member to assist and help organize the nightly Jam Sessions at your assigned venue.
  • Event Assistant: Help with the Welcome Event on the Monday of Guitar Sessions by assisting the students checking; help with the final performances at your assigned venue on the Friday of Guitar Sessions week; help with the distribution of certificates at the BPC on the Friday of Guitar Sessions week.
