About The Position

Provides cultural information through demonstrations and lectures, and teaches songs, dances, crafts, games and cultural phrases to guests. Learns how to create, maintain and/or do repairs of moderate difficulty on cultural artifacts, buildings, and props using a variety of equipment and materials. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Must be in good health and have a voice that can endure up to four hours of speaking in any given time frame.
  • Must be capable of moving freely among the guests and be capable of a full range of body movement.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Must know the basics of playing the ukulele.
  • Must look Polynesian.
  • Must attach resume and current semester's class schedule (weekly view format).
  • Should be knowledgeable about the culture being represented.
  • Should be able to speak the language of the culture being represented.
  • Should be a high school graduate.
  • No prior work experience necessary.
  • Must attach Resume and CURRENT 2026 class schedule (weekly view).
  • All applicants must be available for an on-site interview at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
  • To start working at BYU–Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, all new hires must complete the Form I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • As part of the I-9 process, prospective employees are required to provide certain documents to prove identity and work authorization. You must bring with you the actual document. No photocopies are allowed.
