About The Position

This entry-level position is suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The role involves providing cultural information through demonstrations and lectures, teaching songs, dances, crafts, games, and cultural phrases to guests. The demonstrator will also learn to create, maintain, and repair cultural artifacts, buildings, and props using various equipment and materials. Other job-related duties may be assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Must be in good health
  • Must have a voice that can endure up to four hours of speaking in any given time frame
  • Must be capable of moving freely among the guests
  • Must be capable of a full range of body movement
  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Must know the basics of playing the ukulele
  • Must look Polynesian
  • Must attach resume and current semester's class schedule (weekly view format)

Nice To Haves

  • Should be knowledgeable about the culture being represented
  • Should be able to speak the language of the culture being represented
  • Should be a high school graduate

Responsibilities

  • Provide cultural information through demonstrations and lectures
  • Teach songs, dances, crafts, games and cultural phrases to guests
  • Learn how to create, maintain and/or do repairs of moderate difficulty on cultural artifacts, buildings, and props using a variety of equipment and materials
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the manager
