About The Position

Guest Relations Specialists serve as ambassadors to all Aquarium visitors, implementing daily requirements for guest entrance and exit. This includes ticket sales, scanning, general upkeep, annual pass sales, managing guest traffic flow, operating the 4D Theater, and other attractions. The role emphasizes a proactive, friendly, and courteous approach to guest interactions, anticipating needs, and providing information about exhibits and programs. Specialists are responsible for resolving guest concerns, accurately conducting sales transactions, accounting for all monies and passes, and promoting add-on experiences. Maintaining a clean and functional work area, ensuring safety at attractions, and assisting with guest flow are also key duties. Attendance at training programs and a commitment to teamwork and safety policies are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of previous retail, customer service, or attraction experience.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and proactive approach.
  • Ability to learn and perform all Guest Services job functions.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to handle and account for large sums of money.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, or crawl.
  • No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance, and agility of movement that might interfere with the ability to work.
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Ability to take directional cues directly or indirectly.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may be loud at times.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including occasional extreme hot or cold, and wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background investigation.
  • Allergies to plants or animals must be controlled by medication or protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily requirements for guest entrance and exit, including ticket sales, scanning, and annual pass sales.
  • Manage guest traffic flow and operate attractions like the 4D Theater.
  • Interact with guests in a patient, kind, humble, respectful, selfless, forgiving, honest, and committed manner.
  • Proactively greet, interact with, and assist guests, providing information and recommendations.
  • Listen to guest concerns and independently resolve issues.
  • Accurately conduct all sales transactions, including tickets, annual passes, and programs.
  • Account for all monies, coupons, passes, and vouchers received, and ensure end-of-day close is within policy guidelines.
  • Actively promote and upsell add-on experiences, annual passes, and partner combination tickets.
  • Maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the assigned work area.
  • Create a safe and fun experience at ride attractions and Behind the Scenes experiences.
  • Assist with guest flow, including school groups and crowd management.
  • Attend all Aquarium training programs and demonstrate an ongoing understanding of exhibits, programs, visitor information, and policies/procedures.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Guest Relations team and with other Aquarium staff.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed by guests and team members.
  • Contribute to a satisfying, enjoyable, and energetic work environment.
  • Conduct building open/closing procedures and submit reports.
  • Comply with safety and security directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
