About The Position

The Gloucester County Vocational School District is seeking a Guest Artist to design and teach dance master classes. This role involves delivering age-appropriate instruction in technique, style, or repertory, introducing students to current industry practices, and modeling professional behavior. The Guest Artist will provide constructive feedback, adapt instruction based on student needs, and lead safe warm-up and cool-down sessions. Communication with the supervising dance educator is key, as is fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The position requires adherence to school policies and effective class time management. Participation in Q&A sessions and discussions about the artist's professional journey is also expected.

Requirements

  • Certificated Staff
  • Ability to design and teach dance master classes aligned with course objectives, CTE outcomes, and NJ VPA standards
  • Ability to deliver age-appropriate, skill-level-appropriate instruction in technique, style, or repertory
  • Ability to introduce students to current industry practices, trends, and career pathways in dance
  • Ability to model professional behavior, rehearsal etiquette, and workplace expectations
  • Ability to provide constructive, actionable feedback to support student growth and artistic development
  • Ability to adapt instruction in real time based on student ability, engagement, and learning needs
  • Ability to lead structured warm-ups and cool-downs that promote injury prevention and safe dance practices
  • Ability to communicate clearly with the supervising dance educator regarding lesson goals and pacing
  • Ability to incorporate discussion of the guest artist's professional journey, training, and career experiences
  • Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment
  • Ability to follow school policies related to student safety, supervision, and conduct
  • Ability to manage class time effectively to meet instructional goals within the scheduled master class period
  • Willingness to participate in Q&A sessions, demonstrations, or reflective discussions when appropriate
  • Willingness to support student understanding of professional expectations in auditions, rehearsals, and performances
