The Teaching Artist (TA) will teach assigned classes and collaborate with Community Initiatives staff on curriculum development, lesson plans, and resources. TAs are not authorized to conduct classes without a residency school classroom teacher present. They will attend team meetings, participate in professional development, facilitate student performances at the Residency showcase, and support program evaluation. Core supplies will be provided by OP, with requests for additional supplies needing to be submitted at least one week in advance. Pre-approved supplies purchased by the TA will be reimbursed. TAs must provide updated clearances, including FBI Fingerprint, Child Abuse Clearance, Act 168, and PA Criminal History, along with the 3-hour Mandated Reporter Training. The TA will provide their work availability, and OP will attempt to assign schools based on this availability. If a TA must cancel a lesson for reasons beyond their control, they must notify the Residency Program Manager at least 48 hours in advance. Desired availability is Monday through Thursday, 9 am-3 pm, with scheduled classes up to eight 45-minute sessions per week. TAs are allotted 2 missed classes and 1 missed meeting per semester, with notification required 48 hours in advance.
