About The Position

Responsible for proactively soliciting and managing group and transient sales opportunities. Manages the hotel’s segment sales effort. Actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity. Manages daily activities related to group and transient sales objectives. Achieves personal and team related revenue goals. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. Responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Provides service to our customers in order to grow the account on behalf of the company.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.
  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels (e.g., territory sales, company sales) to ensure group and transient sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
  • Uses sales resources and administrative/support staff effectively.
  • Maximizes total hotel revenue by working closely with Rooms and Catering departments.
  • Partners with Event Management and/or Operations in providing a customer experience that exceeds the customer’s expectations.
  • Attends pre- and post-convention meetings to understand group needs, obtain feedback on quality of product (e.g., rooms, meeting facilities and equipment, food and beverage), service levels and overall satisfaction.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate, complete and effective turnover to Event Management.
  • Respond to incoming group and transient opportunities for the property.
  • Manage departmental budget, including group and transient sales.
  • Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
  • Use sales resources and administrative/support staff effectively.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
  • Conduct data analysis and sharing of information on market conditions, competitors, client and industry changes, economic forecasts and trends.
  • Identify new group and transient business to achieve personal and property revenue goals.
  • Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and know how to sell against them.
  • Close the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions and property needs.
  • Monitor same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and control property occupancy.
  • Gain understanding of the property’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during, the program/event.
  • Maximize total hotel revenue by working closely with Rooms and Catering departments.
  • Support customer loyalty to company by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Service customers to grow share of the account.
  • Execute and support customer service standards and property’s brand standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service consistent with the daily service basics of the brand.
  • Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
  • Partner with Event Management and/or Operations in providing a customer experience that exceeds the customer’s expectations.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Attend pre- and post-convention meetings to understand group needs, obtain feedback on quality of product (e.g., rooms, meeting facilities and equipment, food and beverage), service levels and overall satisfaction.
  • Utilize intranet for resources and information.
  • Conduct site inspections.
  • Create contracts as required.
  • Participate in and practice daily service basics of the brand.
