About The Position

The Group Projects Manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation helps lead the development of roadway projects that make travel safer and more efficient. This position supports the design and delivery of maintenance resurfacing and transportation improvement projects while guiding the work of design teams and consultant partners. It also ensures that engineering standards, schedules, and budgets are met throughout project development.

Requirements

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering designs, plans, and calculations for accuracy and conformance with project requirements
  • Guide designers and technicians while providing technical direction and evaluating work quality
  • Oversee in-house and consultant resources to keep project schedules and budgets on track
  • Work with municipalities, utilities, and public partners to support effective project coordination
  • Review and certify Plans, Specifications, and Estimate packages and ensure compliance with laws, policies, safety criteria, and technical standards
  • Manage multiple complex highway projects from early planning through project letting to ensure quality and on time delivery
