Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate plans, studies, designs, and permits for compliance with standards and policies
  • Conduct traffic studies, operational reviews, and field investigations using engineering tools
  • Assist with maintenance and management of databases, inventories, and operational programs
  • Communicate with municipalities, consultants, contractors, and internal units on project needs
  • Investigate inquiries and provide technical guidance on transportation and safety concerns
  • Participate in training and support knowledge sharing for staff and trainees
