About The Position

The Group Program Manager, Hardware Design Program Management in the Program Management Office (PMO) is a manager responsible for overseeing the Technical Program Management (TPM) team responsible for in-house designed components. This role involves close collaboration with the electrical Hardware Engineering team and other cross-functional teams. As a Group Program Manager, you will be pivotal guiding/mentoring the TPMs, creating and enhancing program management processes and ensuring consistency across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years managing technical program management teams (TPM) plus at least 10 years of program management experience in hardware engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing contract manufacturers in the development of new hardware products, including responsibilities such as PCBA design release, BOM management, SMT processes, and manufacturing test implementation.
  • Ability to understand complex hardware/software systems and familiarity with hardware design and development processes including board-level design, mechanical engineering, and hardware validation.
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills.
  • Be detail oriented and able to confidently bring order and organization to any team.
  • Ability to handle ambiguities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical program managers to support in-house hardware designs.
  • Ensure the team is adequately resourced to support current and future workloads as the in-house engineering team grows.
  • Hire new TPMs as necessary to support in-house hardware design team growth and ensure that the overall skill level of the team is enhanced.
  • Lead the TPM team in the coordination of hardware design, development and validation efforts for complex, fast-evolving hardware systems and components designed in-house by hardware engineering.
  • Provide appropriate guidance and mentorship to the team members based on their experience and skill levels.
  • Guide team to proactively resolve issues and drive course corrections as needed - be directly involved in helping teams foresee and overcome barriers or blockers.
  • Ensure that the team is capturing and tracking inter-team dependencies and handoffs, plus capturing, monitoring and help resolving risks and issues.
  • Ensuring that all business deliverables are identified and accounted for in the project plan with responsibility and due dates
  • Define program deliverables, metrics and KPIs, set up mechanisms to track/report.
  • Ensure consistent and effective communication of status/progress across program teams.
  • Conduct periodic retrospectives; continuously assess and improve processes and tools.
