About The Position

As a Group Product Manager on Coinbase’s AI Foundations team within the Platform product group, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for core AI building blocks used across the company. These include the LLM Gateway, model selection, MCPs, knowledge and context primitives, evaluations, and other AI infrastructure that powers autonomous and assisted AI experiences. You will define how Coinbase builds, governs, and scales AI capabilities, turning foundational primitives into reliable, secure tools that support product development and operational efficiency across the company. Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only. Employees are expected to gather quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.” The role’s annual base salary range is $243,865–$286,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, along with medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.

Requirements

10+ years of product management experience, including 5+ years focused on AI/ML platforms, developer tools, or infrastructure products used by internal engineering teams.
A track record of defining and shipping platform primitives or developer-facing products that achieved broad internal or external adoption.
Deep technical fluency in LLM architectures, model serving, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and agent-based systems, with the ability to engage directly with engineers on design tradeoffs.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across engineering, security, legal, and finance in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
Ability to build conviction with senior and executive stakeholders around ambiguous, high-stakes platform decisions and clearly explain technical strategy, investment cases, and tradeoffs.
Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight, focused on measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

Shape the multi-year vision for AI platform capabilities, identifying emerging technologies and industry shifts to guide investment priorities and architectural decisions.
Own the end-to-end AI Foundations product roadmap and success metrics across model infrastructure, context and knowledge primitives, integration frameworks, and evaluation systems.
Drive adoption of AI primitives across product and engineering teams through self-serve capabilities, clear documentation, and compelling internal developer experiences.
Lead model governance strategy, defining how Coinbase evaluates, integrates, and manages large language models across cost, quality, latency, and safety.
Partner with Engineering, Security, Legal, and Finance to ensure AI infrastructure meets Coinbase standards for reliability, compliance, and responsible use.
Build alignment among senior and executive stakeholders on ambiguous, high-stakes platform investments by communicating technical strategy, investment cases, and tradeoffs.
Use generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
