About The Position

Our program provides young children with a nurturing environment and capable teachers to help them become successful learners. Our program is licensed by the state of Massachusetts, and we are accredited by the Council on Accreditation. Position Overview A Group Leader plans and facilitates safe and engaging activities for kids. The focus of this position is working in a team environment, building and maintaining relationships with children and families, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines governed by the Department of Early Education and Care. There is a need to be an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the well-being and education of young children and the needs of others, including children, families, the team and the school. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Highly proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
  • At least one year experience working with school age children
  • Being extremely detailed and accuracy-oriented

  • Ability to support physical demands which may include but are not limited to: regularly standing, walking, sitting; using hands; stooping; kneeling, climbing stairs regularly and running around with children. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and value the professional culture; ensure a developmentally appropriate understanding of school aged children.
  • Contribute to the established school wide open communication. Consult with your team regarding daily schedule, individual children and parent needs.
  • Ensure families feel welcome and well oriented to the program when dropping off or picking up their child.
  • Communicate with your team on a regular basis, keeping them informed of all activity within the school relating to general business, children, faculty and parents.
  • Report facility, inventory, equipment and supply needs as required. Assist in the safe operations to include sanitary bathrooms, kitchens and classrooms; follow posted evacuation plan in each classroom.
  • Participate in required training programs, conferences, courses or other aspects of professional growth.
  • Attend regular faculty meetings.
  • Maintain Department of Early Education and Care compliance, COA, and QRIS; report to the Executive Director any potential non-compliances in a timely way. Meet with the Department of Early Education and Care licensor as needed. Communicate with the Director and the School Street team regarding EEC/COA/QRIS regulations on a regular basis.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter, reporting any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the Directors for follow-through.
