About The Position

JELD-WEN is one of the world’s largest door and window manufacturers, with more than 22,000 employees operating in 24 countries globally. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, JELD-WEN designs, produces and distributes an extensive range of interior and exterior doors, wood, vinyl and aluminum windows. Depending on assignment, our Group Leads may do any of the following duties: • Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to designated shift • Ensure security of facilities during designated shift hours • Ensure all safety, manufacturing, and quality procedures are followed • Enable effective communications between management and operators • Train new employees and coach existing employees • Investigate and report all incidents • Coordinate work activities with management • Participate in Continuous Improvement processes, such as SQDCI Board & Gemba Walks • Read and interpret production schedule • Inspect incoming loads • Check shipping documents for correct customer information • Perform start of shift preventative maintenance inspection • Assist in inventory cycle counts as needed • Material preparation and material handling • Operate small and large machines in the production of doors • Prep doors for production • Stage and package finished product for delivery • In all functions, maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety rules • Other general production and warehouse duties as needed

Requirements

  • Commercial machine operator experience a definite plus
  • Past experience in commercial woodworking (doors, millwork, cabinets, etc.)
  • Past experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • General knowledge of building materials
  • Can perform math and use basic hand-held measuring tools
  • Strong experience with tape measure (1/16) and calipers
  • Comprehensive tool knowledge
  • Works well in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or similar environment is preferred, but not required.
