Group Insurance Underwriter
About The Position
The Smith Group, a subsidiary of Guy Carpenter, is seeking a Group Insurance Underwriter with experience at either a direct Group writer or a Reinsurer. This role involves regular reinsurance underwriting duties, supporting consulting services, and contributing to market intelligence for clients. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can act independently and possesses strong communication skills for direct client interaction. While Portland, Maine is preferred, other office locations may be considered. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in a Guy Carpenter office.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Group Insurance underwriting.
- Sound understanding of reinsurance and its place in Group Insurance.
- Robust knowledge of the Group product suite – Disability, PFML, Life, Supplemental Health (Dental and Vision a bonus).
- Bachelor’s Degree.
