About The Position

The Group Housing Specialist I partners with group clients to ensure a successful group guest experience through service, communication, and problem-solving. This role involves understanding client needs to create memorable experiences. The Group Housing Specialist I works from an off-site corporate location and manages groups with a peak of 1,500 room nights or less. They serve as the key liaison for group/event clients in all aspects of the Corporate Group Housing department, building strong partnerships internally and with clients. The role is responsible for managing communication and execution of client room block/booking processes, ensuring accuracy for events at MGM Resorts International Las Vegas properties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ Years of Prior Relevant Experience - Guest service experience
  • Strong Communication skills, both oral and written
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with navigating multiple systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Property Management Systems (i.e. Opera, Delphi, Passkey)
  • Experience in a similar resort setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks related to housing needs for groups, including creating Passkey weblinks, building property blocks and rates in various systems, monitoring pick-up reports, supporting attrition conversations, uploading rooming lists, collecting sub-block funds, assisting the call queue, creating upsell opportunities, and managing sub-block agreements.
  • Act as a strategic partner and liaison for meeting and event clients in all aspects of the Corporate Group Housing department, managing group-related room block/booking processes and communications for MGM properties (excluding Excalibur and Luxor).
  • Maintain timely written and verbal communication between group clients, departmental leadership, and property partners (Hotel, Sales, Revenue, Accounting, Convention Services), providing guest resolution within the scope of authority.
  • Review sales contracts and manage housing-related contractual obligations, ensuring proper system setup and execution of room blocks, rates, resort fees, concessions, and attrition.
  • Maintain and monitor room/suite inventory levels, rates, availability, room bookings, and relevant information for various segments.
  • Ensure all special guest requests are met and communicated to the proper departments, including late check-outs, VIP set-ups, ADA accommodations, and hierarchy specifications.
  • Plan, prepare, and organize the distribution of necessary reporting for clients, third-party planners, and management throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Prepare and provide reconciliation of master rooming specifications between hotel and client lists, ensuring accurate attrition and commission fees are processed, and prepare estimated charges for groups and collect payment.
  • Represent the Group Housing team in all required meetings for each event, including pre-planning, pre-convention, and post-convention meetings, collaborating with internal partners for seamless success.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of all hotel services/features of MGMRI properties and local attractions.
