About The Position

Responsible for organizing and presenting exercise classes in the Del E. Webb Wellness Center. All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or higher level of education, or a minimum of 1 year of work experience.
  • BLS or Heartsaver with AED through American Heart Association or American Red Cross with AED.
  • Fitness certification from ACSM, ACE, NSCA, AFAA or another certifying agency program.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience conducting physical exercise classes in a group setting.
  • Ability to develop positive interaction and communication with members, guests, co-workers, and other Wellness Center staff.
  • Ability to serve as a motivator in the class environment by possessing good communication skills with a wide variety of populations.
  • Ability to explain facility policies/procedures to members.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with all ages and levels of ability.
  • Ability to comprehend educational material in basic exercise physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, nutrition, and exercise performance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body as it relates to exercise and safety precautions.
  • Ability to visually monitor participants during class to assure safe and proper execution of exercise moves.
  • Ability to hear calls for help.
  • Use of fine motor skills and good hand to eye coordination.
  • Ability to lead exercise classes involving continuous physical exertion and repetitive movement, self-manipulative, pushing and pulling of limbs, bending, lifting, stepping, and standing for at least sixty (60) minutes during one session.
  • Ability to manipulate and incorporate exercises with or without resistive equipment (bands, bars, hand weights, tubing, and benches).
  • Ability to memorize exercise routines and interpret directions.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching safe, effective, and motivational group exercise classes using approved guidelines from ACSM, NSCA, IDEA, and/or AFAA.
  • Instructing patrons on effective workout methods, explaining proper techniques, demonstrating exercises, identifying muscle groups, and teaching methods to strengthen specific muscles.
  • Adhering to Kingman Healthcare Inc. (KHI) and Del E. Webb Wellness Center policies and procedures.
  • Assuring facility cleanliness by stacking and/or cleaning equipment after use.
  • Monitoring the safety of all participants during classes.
  • Notifying the appropriate supervisor of any problems or abnormalities with equipment.
  • Planning music and movements prior to class.
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing forms in a timely manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
