About The Position
The Group Ex Instructor will lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. This role involves answering member questions to support their healthy living goals, maintaining knowledge of wellness trends, and building authentic relationships with members. The instructor will also keep accurate attendance records and follow YMCA policies and procedures, including responding to emergency situations.
Requirements
- Must have knowledge and skill to teach at least 2 formats OR advanced level training in area of specialty.
Nice To Haves
- Multi-lingual skills
- National Group Exercise Certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA) and/or BS in related field
Responsibilities
- Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate class attendance records.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
