About The Position

The Group Director, Event Production - In Venue Hospitality (IVH) is a critical role responsible for providing strategic and operational support for multiple IVH programs during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role involves close collaboration with the Sr. Director, Event Production, other Group Directors, internal functional areas (Commercial Product, Commercial Strategy, Finance), and LA28 stakeholders, particularly the Venue & Hospitality teams. The primary focus is on delivering exceptional hospitality experiences for On Location guests within assigned Olympic Sporting Venues. These experiences will occur in temporary or permanent lounge spaces and may encompass food and beverage, photo opportunities, broadcast viewing, and other curated elements within an Olympic sports-themed environment. Planning will be centralized at the On Location LA Offices, with site visits as needed. The IVH Team structure will evolve from Group to Cluster in January 2027 and then to Venue in March 2028. The Group Director will serve as the primary point of contact for their assigned group, managing staff within their cluster and venue(s). Assignment to one of four groups (Downtown LA & Hills, Inglewood, Carson/Expo Park & Football Cities, or Greater LA/Long Beach/Valley & Coastal) will be based on experience, interest, and familiarity with the respective venues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Sports Management, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in managing (and producing) events and/or brand activations and/or event teams.
  • Experience in managing and producing events in Stadium and Temporary Structure environments.
  • Track record in creating commercially viable experiences and delivering them at large scale.
  • Fluent in speaking and writing business English.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Airtable.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work in a moving environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Creative thinker and solution-oriented person placing the guest at the center of the process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure hospitality experiences meet brand, quality, operational, and financial standards in collaboration with the Sr. Director, Event Production.
  • Build, lead, and manage hospitality delivery teams.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance.
  • Provide daily progress updates and challenges to the Sr. Director, Event Production, seeking input for key decisions.
  • Partner with the commercial product architecture team to define/adjust service levels and manage budgets per Olympic venue based on sport, demand, sessions, and sales levels.
  • Collaborate with all involved Functional Areas (FAs) impacting Event Production hospitality delivery, including Food & Beverage, Art and Design, Entertainment, Overlay, Workforce, Accreditation, Logistics, and Gifting.
  • Act as the representative and ambassador of the hospitality unit within the LA28 venue department.
  • Manage overall project milestones and timelines.
  • Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) and track expenditures.
  • Manage suppliers and vendors.
  • Encourage and support the use of sustainable products.
  • Attend all relevant meetings and report on behalf of the Event Production team regarding IVH hospitality programs.
  • Serve as the main on-site point of contact, representing the Event Production Team and the company.
  • Develop overall operational planning at Competition Venues for the On Location guest experience.
  • Update existing or upcoming operational tools.
  • Facilitate and lead production meetings with key staff.
  • Troubleshoot, anticipate, and proactively address event aspects leading up to and following turnover to the production implementation team.
  • Forecast, qualify, and maintain the budget.
  • Support budget tracking, invoice processing, and expense reconciliation.
  • Maintain organized documentation, trackers, and shared files.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and internal communications.
  • Maintain databases and reporting dashboards.
  • Interview, hire, train, appraise performance, reward, discipline, address complaints, and resolve problems related to employees, alone or with managers/Sr. Director.
