About The Position

CDM Smith is a leader in water infrastructure, partnering with municipalities and private-sector clients to solve critical water challenges in Texas. We are expanding our groundwater practice to support an increasing portfolio of municipal water supply and data center projects across the state. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Geologist, as certified by ASBOG.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
  • Heavy equipment operation and proper licensing to operate heavy equipment is a requirement of the position.

  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and signs off on basic to highly complex geophysical testing, geologic/seismic evaluations, fault rupture hazard and slope stability investigations/hydrogeologic analysis (aquifer test analysis; geochemical analysis; geotechnical analysis; contaminant transport analysis etc.) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions pertaining to water supply, contaminant and/or geotechnical assessments to meet client project requirements.
  • Prepares and/or reviews and signs off on draft and final reports, evaluations, and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments.
  • Schedules and reviews the work of subcontractors during project.
  • Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
  • Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
  • Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
  • Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations, and best practices.
  • Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
  • May develop subcontracts for drilling, sampling, and geophysical testing, as necessary.
  • Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
  • Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
  • May supervise the work of junior staff on project work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
