In the role of Groundwater Modeler/Hydrogeologist we'll count on you to work under more-senior modelers, using prescribed methods in various data analysis and modeling assignments as part of groundwater and contaminant fate and transport modeling projects. Evaluate groundwater movement, contaminant fate and transport, groundwater supplies, and land subsidence due to over withdrawal of groundwater. Acquire, organize and analyze environmental data. Set up and execute mathematical models. Perform quality-control checks on model input and results. Participate in project meetings, proposal preparation, report writing and presentations. Develop statistical and graphical comparisons of model results and data. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering/science, oceanography or closely related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in hydrogeology or environmental engineering (with a focus on groundwater modeling or hydrogeologic processes) preferred
  • Experience conducting groundwater modeling, working with modeling programs like MODFLOW, MODPATH, MT3DMS and model processing software such as GMS or Groundwater Vistas required, however, would consider strong candidate with a directly relevant Masters with required experience in modeling programs and mathematical software with academic related experience in modeling
  • Experience with mathematical software such as Python, MatLab and R
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including a thorough understanding of hydrogeological processes and principles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Candidates who reside locally in the Philadelphia area are preferred
  • Previous field experience collecting groundwater data preferred
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification are a plus
