About The Position

As a member of Moon Valley Nurseries’ Planting Crew, the Groundsman helps install trees, shrubs, and other plants for customers. The role involves following landscape plans and specifications, using appropriate planting and fertilization techniques, and coordinating with team members to complete projects on time while meeting customer expectations. The employee also helps load and unload plants, tools, and equipment, maintains clean work areas and equipment, and follows safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and awareness of Blue Stake/811 utility markings. The position requires availability to work any day of the week and involves outdoor work in potentially extreme weather conditions. A motor vehicle record and criminal background check may be required.

Requirements

• Ability to perform manual labor.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in potentially extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
• Ability to frequently reach, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or a related field.
• Previous experience operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plant trees, shrubs, and other plants according to landscape plans and specifications.
• Follow proper fertilization and planting techniques to promote plant health and longevity.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and complete projects on time.
• Assist with loading and unloading plants, tools, and equipment, ensuring accurate counts and proper weight distribution.
• Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
• Recognize Blue Stake/811 colors at job sites to avoid damaging underground utilities.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines.
• Be available to work any day of the week.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
