About The Position

Medxcel is seeking a Groundskeeper to support facilities management at Genesys Health System in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Under direct supervision, this role performs groundskeeping and related service duties, including lawn care, tree and shrub maintenance, snow and ice removal, debris cleanup, and upkeep of exterior areas. The position also handles groundskeeping equipment maintenance, equipment delivery, and preventive maintenance work orders. The Groundskeeper must be available for emergency 24-hour snow removal and serves as a member of the Fire Brigade and Disaster Team.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited program.
Valid United States driver's license obtained before the hire or job transfer date.
Must meet Risk Management requirements.
Experience in vehicle, equipment, and small-engine repair.
Experience with equipment including four-wheel-drive vehicles, trucks, tractors, hydraulic plows, and loaders.
Ability to use a smartphone or computer to create work requests, order supplies, and close corrective and preventive work orders.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Normal or correctable vision and ability to differentiate primary colors.
Normal finger dexterity.
Ability to work without mechanical assisting devices.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds without mechanical assisting devices.
Ability to climb and work from ladders.
Normal or correctable hearing to recognize institutional alarms, including fire, steam pressure, medical gas, and medical air alarms.
Exceptional written, oral, and telephone interpersonal skills.
Ability to manipulate tools, instruments, equipment, and materials commonly used in maintenance trades.
Must pass a Respirator Fit Test.

Nice To Haves

Coursework in horticulture and landscaping is desirable.

Responsibilities

Sod, reseed, and water lawns.
Mow lawns using hand or riding power mowers.
Trim, transplant, and water trees and shrubbery as required.
Fertilize and apply insecticide as needed.
Remove debris from grounds and drainage basins and keep terraces clean and orderly.
Transport salt from Materials Management and store it in the garage.
Clean canopied areas, entrances, and parking lots.
Repair driveways, parking lots, and sidewalks, and install protective posts.
Empty and clean exterior trash containers and ash urns.
Store lawn furniture.
Perform maintenance tasks on groundskeeping equipment and assemble new equipment.
Deliver equipment throughout hospital areas, including computer equipment, television sets, and other equipment as requested.
Serve as a member of the Fire Brigade and Disaster Team.
Be available for emergency 24-hour snow removal.
Complete preventive maintenance work orders within the allotted time frame.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe facility and perform other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.
